About This Project

Native to East Asia, the Asiatic Raccoon or Mangut is omnivorious and will pretty much eat anything!

Racoon pups are normally born between late April and early May after a gestation period of 12 weeks, with litter sizes of between 5-16 raccoon.

In the wild they will tend to live in forests and dense vegetation bordering lakes and streams. They use dens initially made by foxes and badgers to live and breed in.

The raccoons were the first exotic species bred at Cassiobury Farm & Fishery and so have a special place in our collection.
