Squirrel monkeys are found naturally in the forests of Central and Southern America. They are highly sociable and will typically live in groups of 40-50 animals. They are inquisitive and adventurous by nature and love to climb and leap.
Recognised as the most intelligent of all the primates, squirrel monkeys have the biggest brain to body ratio of any monkeys.
They live for 15-20 years and produce a single offspring each year. We have a mixture of common and black-headed squirrel monkeys in our troop.
